PROJECT PROPOSALS 

Pakistani institutions and scientists interested in submitting proposals should be guided by the following information and instructions:

 AREAS OF RESEARCH INTEREST

The objective of ALP is to support agriculture research & development activities in accordance with the Pakistan’s long-term development goals and to promote long term scientific cooperation between Pakistan and the United States in the agricultural sciences. The goals focus on food security, poverty alleviation and promoting broad based equitable and sustainable agriculture. The projects funded under the fund should help to generate employment, improve labor wages, profits and product quality.

 While developing the proposals the scientists may take into consideration the already identified priority areas of research by technical division. Priority area of research will be advertised every year. Overall priority area of research identified by Pak-US Scientists during the ALP International Workshop held on April 24-26 2001 are annexed (Annexure-I)

SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS

At the first stage preliminary proposals in form of concept papers   will be invited normally once in a year through advertisements in the national newspapers of repute. All proposals should be addressed to the Executive Director (ALP) ALP Secretariat, PARC, Islamabad on the prescribed proforma (Annexure-II).

 The information/ proforma is also available on the PARC’s websites : http://www.parc.gov.pk/ & http://www.alp.gov.pk/ Specialized institutions could also be requested to submit proposals for the solutions of specific problems or conducting of pre-feasibility studies. The preliminary proposals will be evaluated/ short-listed by the Technical Divisions, PARC to select the suitable proposals. Detail proposals will be invited from the PIs of short-listed projects. The details proposals will be judged and evaluated by the two technical experts/ referees in Pakistan (On prescribed appraisal format; Annexure-XIII) and overseas collaborative scientist. The final ranking will be made by the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC); and the recommendation of TAC will be submitted to BOD for final approval and allocation of ALP annual budget.
